Hamp, an American and Toyota's first woman senior executive, was arrested after 57 Oxycodone pills were found in a small parcel labeled 'necklaces' that was sent from the U.S. to Hamp in Japan.
Hamp was promoted into the job in April and relocated to Tokyo this month, where she has been living in a hotel. She told police she did not think she had imported an illegal substance.
Prior approval from the Japanese government is needed for bringing Oxycodone into the country, and it must be carried on an individual.

If convicted, Hamp could face years in prison and deportation.
